FAQ
How do I participate?
You decide to take a leap during this year of the leap. You do not have to know what it is yet. You can email me your name/leap or simply your name to jsogrady@unc.edu or add your name to the ning.com leap wall (under blog wall-"add your leap here.")
What is a leap?
A leap is a specific action you will begin by February 29, 2008 and work on this year. A leap has one or multiple steps. Typically, leaps have a clear beginning and end point. Unlike many new year resolutions that can make you feel super guilty (like losing weight or exercising), your leaps will make you and the world stronger as a result.
Must I know my leap to partipate?
No. A leap is not a resolution. If you don't know what it is now, you will later. The most important thing is to start practicing with little leaps. Talk with people you trust to discern what makes sense.
Can I act on more than one leap?
Yes and be careful multitaskers. It is important to stay focused. If you find you are quickly out of work, perhaps you can broaden the focus of your leaps.
What if I lose interest in my leap?
You can always shift, change or adapt your leap. While we do hold you accountable for your dreams, you are in charge of your own journey. If your leap is not working, figure out how to adapt your circumstances.
Can I keep my leap a secret?
Yes. Of course, it helps to share your leap so someone else can hold you accountable.
What do I do on February 29?
February 29 is a Friday. Clear time and space on that day both to act on your leap (if you haven't) and to celebrate. Have a party at school, at home or in your neighborhood. We plan to have our annual Comfort Food Party fundraiser on Leap Day to raise money for the Durham Food Bank.
